Independent Study or Project

Definition of Independent Study/Project

Students may develop a project based on a specific topic and can collaborate with other students. The implementation of an independent project must be guided by one or more lecturers or supervisors.

Form of Activity

  • Scientific competition,
  • Other student activities that produce products or achievements.

Outcomes and Impact

The outcomes of independent projects may include:

  • Participation in activities and/or achievements in a particular event.
  • Products as the output of activities that may be pursued as intellectual property.
  • Students become more skilled in generating and realizing creative and innovative ideas.

Procedure:

  1. Independent project proposals are submitted and evaluated by the selected supervisor.
  2. Review and evaluation of the proposal by the supervisor and Department Coordinator.
  3. Approval of activities by the Department Coordinator.
  4. Implementation of the independent project under the supervision of the supervisor.
  5. Assessment by the supervisor and external supervisor (if any).
  6. Recognition of semester credit units and conversion in the department curriculum is carried out by the department conversion team.
  7. Department Administrator enters the conversion value into cybercampus.
  8. Department Administrator enters the report on http://pendidikan.unair.ac.id/akmdikti.

Grade Conversion

  1. The conversion of an independent project is determined in accordance with the suitability of the learning objectives of a particular course proportionally.
  2. An independent project gets the maximum proportion that can be recognized as 1 (one) semester credit unit (credits) if it has a total of 2,720 (two thousand seven hundred twenty) minutes of activities related to the independent project carried out by students.
