DPKKA UNAIR – The COVID-19 pandemic has posed serious risks to various crucial aspects, especially in the context of education and economy, one of those is the plummeting number of unemployment in Indonesia throughout 2020. This prompted the government to take immediate action and later gave birth to the Magang dan Studi Independen Bersertifikat (MSIB) programme as we know it.
Magang dan Studi Independen Bersertifikat (MSIB) programme launched by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), General Director of Higher Education, Research and Technology (Ditjen Diktiristek) is now entering its second phase, which will end this upcoming late December 2021.
For the first phase, as recorded in dikti.kemdikbud.go.id, 13.272 students have passed the selection of MSIB programme which will host internship programmed and independent trainings, co-hosted by its 122 partners. As many as 555 HEIs have participated in the programme, to facilitate students joining the programme.
Certified Internship
One of the flagships for the Kampus Merdeka programme is certified internship. During MSIB, the certified internship is designed specifically to improve competencies in fulfilling job descriptions assigned to participants, with the main aim of enhancing problem solving skills within teamwork.
- The ability to collaborate with other people to complete the job desk that has been given, this aims to increase your ability to solve a problem together
- Not fully accompanied by a responsible mentor, because students and mentors will work at the same time.
- Long-term internship period, or full semester
- Certificate according to performance during a high-value internship
Internships are specifically for students in semester 5 and above who understand the job description according to their interests and experience. The role of the mentor in the internship program cannot fully supervise and direct students, so that you can show your best performance!
Certified Independent Learning
Independent learning is broadly defined as an off-campus learning process which employs both structuralised and non-structuralised lessons provided by seasoned mentors from a company. The curricula target includes, but not limited to, online lessons that can be accessed anytime, such as video, as well as progress indicator that can be tracked by students.
In essence, independent learning runs a similar backbone with internship programmes, but the difference lies in the supervision, of which independent learning relies on one mentor supervising more students than an internship programme allows.
For students who still want to develop their potential to learn more widely, independent study can lead you to career choices in the future. Many programs provided by companies in independent study adapt to students' interests and talents.
If you want to become an academic, independent study can train students to become creative, innovative and modern academics at the Guru Cikal Campus, Zenius and other companies. Or, do you want professional work? You can learn information technology from the Indonesian Hacktivate Technology company, Coding Academy, and also get certification from the international company Microsoft and Apple Developer Academy.
Then, students who now want to start becoming entrepreneurs, are running their businesses, and have a target of having a communication network with experienced startups and making big profits. You can choose an independent study program that trains students to become the new startup founder in the startup goes to campus program from the Bakti Achmad Zaky Foundation company, PT. Orbit Venture Indonesia.
Now that you’ve learnt their difference, you are free to choose which path to take and grab the opportunity to obtain the best experience with the most seasoned mentors.
