Teaching Assistant

Definition of Teaching Assistance

Teaching Assistantship is an educational activity undertaken by university students in elementary, middle, or high schools for a specific duration, typically spanning several months. 
These schools may be located in urban or remote areas.

This program is facilitated by the university's academic department or faculty with the following objectives:

  1. To offer an opportunity for students who possess a keen interest in the field of education to actively participate in teaching and further deepen their knowledge by assuming the role of teaching assistants in schools.
  2. To contribute to the enhancement of the overall quality and relevance of primary and secondary education, aligning it with higher education standards and contemporary developments.
  3. To provide dedicated university faculty as mentors, responsible for guiding, training, monitoring, and evaluating the teaching activities conducted by students during their teaching assistantship in schools.

Procedure for Study Program/Faculty: :

  1. The Study Program assigns a supervisor, mentor, or coach for the teaching project undertaken by students.
  2. The Faculty ensures that the humanitarian activities undertaken by students align with the agreements specified in the cooperation contract.
  3. The Faculty/Study Program conducts a meticulous grade conversion process to aptly acknowledge students' achievements and contributions in humanitarian projects
  4. The study program submits reports on the website http://pendidikan.unair.ac.id/akmdikti.

Grade Conversion and Recognition

  • One (1) credit unit per semester (sks) is considered equivalent to 2,720 (two thousand seven hundred twenty) minutes of active engagement in teaching activities
    at schools or educational institutions.
  • Assessment will be conducted by the supervisor based on the evaluations provided by the mentor teacher at the school where the student is assisting, as well as the observed improvement in students' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that align with the program proposal designed by the student.
