UNAIR NEWS – Head of the Working Group for Certified Internship Programme and Independent Training of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), Nurhadi, mentioned that the Kampus Merdeka programme is meant to be a platform to gather the best talents for the nation’s industry. He voiced this during the webinar ‘Talenta Hebat Dengan Magang Bersertifikat Kampus Merdeka, Magang Bersertifikat’ (tr. Be the Best Talents with Kampus Merdeka’s Certified Internship Programme), on Thursday (17/6/2021), which was attended by no less than 600 Students of Universitas Airlangga.
“To maximise skill students’ in the certified internship programme, we will arrange meetings between lecturers and experts from the company, so that two sides can discuss what sort of competencies they need to work on, to help develop students’ skills,” Nurhadi explained.
According to Nurhadi, Kampus Merdeka is the government's attempt to bridge and secure the available qualified talents for the nation’s industry, which requires more than a single approach to be able to actually generate the best talents. Starting with training students to be able to adapt to and maintain their role in the relevant ecosystem, such as within an organisation.
“That way, students can contribute actively and for the long term. Kampus Merdeka is expected to be able to support students in earning more credits and gaining hands-on experience which will be beneficial for when they secure their first job, and for students to develop their skill so that they have valuable offers for the companies they set their interests to.”
The latter session of the webinar invited Tutus Kusuma as speaker, who came from the same unit with Nurhadi. Tutus revealed that students can join the programme up to three semesters. For example, they can learn at another study programme, but still within the scope of their home university for one semester, and then the next two semesters they can intern outside campus, and for one of those two semesters it is possible to join Kampus Merdeka’s Certified Internship Programme.
"One of them is a Certified Independent Study Internship with the Merdeka Campus," he said.
Internship or Certified Independent Study, added Tutus, has partners such as Bank Mandiri and Telkomsel. In this way, Merdeka Campus Internship students are given a place like working employees and are formed like a team.
"Students are expected to gain real experience in the industrial world," he said.
Meanwhile, Mukhammad Atiqurrakhman as VP People Strategic Management at Telkomsel hopes that students will be increasingly interested in doing internships at Telkomsel. Remember, Telkomsel has been established since 1995 and includes digital mobile terbesar kelas dunia.
“Telkomsel is present throughout Indonesia. And, 60 percent are in Jabodetabek. This provides knowledge to interns regarding digital mobile Telkomsel. "With training such as 70 percent practice, 20 percent material from mentors, and 10 percent access from Telkomsel," he said.
Adding, Tommy Lianto VP as project kami,” imbuhnya.
Menambahkan, Tommy Lianto VP selaku talent acquisition human capital services group – PT Bank Mandiri hopes that the independent campus program will create superior Indonesian seeds. Of course, these are the seeds that will build Indonesia in the future.
"Bank Mandiri accepts Certified Internship Participants and provides detailed work experience at Bank Mandiri which cannot be obtained in college. "We are also helping intern students who have the potential to become banking employees at PT Bank Mandiri Persero Tbk," he said. (*)
