UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga as one of Indonesia top universities fully supports the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka initiated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). Thus, one of its faculties, namely Faculty of Nursing (FKp) always endeavour to give their all in implementing the MBKM programme.
To UNAIR NEWS, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Airlangga University, Prof. Dr. Ah. Yusuf S., SKp., M.Kes., said that there were at least five programs run by FKp to support the Independent Campus which was initiated by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology.
“Five of those projects include the promotional campaign of MBM activities to students and lecturers, promotional campaign on recognition and conversion of the MBKM activities to students and lecturers, setting up a conversion task force in the faculty, designing conversion standardised guidelines for the MBKM programme, as well as promotional campaign on conversion procedure to students and lecturers.”
Prof. Yusuf resumed, that the FKp has also conducted learning schemes which are considered feasible. One of those is the opportunity for students to take cross-studies courses listed as elective courses. Students are also given opportunities to study abroad, with assistance and support from the university’s international office, AGE.
Prof. Yusuf stipulated, “There are at least 77 FKp students partaking in Micro Credentials for Indonesian Students (Kredensial Mikro Mahasiswa Indonesia/KMMI), then there are 3 students joining certified internship programme and independent training (Magang dan Studi Independen Bersertifikat/MSIB), and one more student has participated in RECON (Relawan Covid-19 Nasional Mahasiswa, tr. COVID-19 National Voluntary Programme for Students). The students are also dispatched to learn off-campus, and they have been deployed to hospitals, health clinics, nursing houses, rural areas listed as partners for community development programmes, various other projects on rural areas, teaching projects, as well as other humanitarian activities.”
Apart from that, continued Prof. Yusuf, students provide support in the form of achievements to the Faculty of Nursing through MBKM. He explained that there were at least 12 programs participated in by students at the Faculty of Nursing, Airlangga University.
“Two teams of FKp students received grants from Program Holistik Pembinaan dan Pemberdayaan desa (PHP2D) under Kemendikbud Ristek, 17 students have been dispatched to participate in an exchange at Taipei Medical University, 25 students have been involved in internships, 2 students participating in a summer school at Universiti Malaya, one student has joined Amerta 2021, and 2 more students received funding for their entrepreneurship training.”
Last but not least, Prof. Yusuf encouraged students of FKp to participate in the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka programme, remarking, “Grab the best of opportunities out there, learn with the people, for the people, accomplish as many achievements as you can, and do your best to graduate on time. Carry on, always give your best and your all, but never ever forget that everything we do, we do it for the people.”
